The Glass Innovation Hub is Ohio’s first, and it is on the O-I campus
$31.3 million to make glass furnaces cleaner, smarter and cheaper to run.

The Northwest Ohio Innovation Consortium runs Ohio’s first state-designated innovation hub, backed by a $31.3 million Glass Innovation Hub grant and housed on the Owens-Illinois campus in Perrysburg. The research agenda is furnace electrification, decarbonization, better melting and recycling, and using AI to cut energy use and extend furnace life. Partners include First Solar, Owens Corning, O-I, Libbey, NSG Pilkington and the University of Toledo.
